Youyang Zhao, Ph.D., is the William G. Swartchild, Jr. Distinguished Research Professor, Director of the Program for Lung and Vascular Biology, and Head of the Injury Repair and Regeneration Research at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. He is a member of the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute and a professor of paediatrics, medicine (pulmonary and critical care medicine), and pharmacology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Zhao joined Lurie Children's in July 2017 after working at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he began as an Assistant Professor in 2003 and rose to the rank of Full Professor of Pharmacology in 2015.Prior to joining UIC, he worked as a senior research scientist at Pharmacia/Pfizer Co. for three years. He earned his B.S. from Fudan University in Shanghai and his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry.
